Five years ago today I sat infront of my computer anticipating the future and it’s possibilities. Endless…
I had resigned from the 9-5 job – working at a financial advisory office in Portland, OR and ventured on doing my own business, photography. At the time, I didn’t realize I would be specializing in wedding photography, let alone, San Diego Wedding Photographer. But here I am – five years into the future and with my husband by my side we now are a husband and wife team who specializes in Wedding Photography and not only do we serve the San Diego area but we still (four children in) still LOVE to travel. Last year we went to Oregon, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois in two months – doing weddings!
It just gives me a moment to pause and reflect – all we’ve been through in the last five years, how much I have grown and what I have learned. I cannot even fathom where we will be in the next five years ahead but I know God has amazing plans for us if we just continue to listen to His voice prompting and leading us and continue to give Him the glory for all He has done for us.
I quit my 9-5 job after I had my second child and had continually booked photography gigs all over Portland, OR on my after work hours. I added up how much I was making at my day job and then subtracted the costs of gas and our nanny… I realized the amount I needed to make each month to reach the same amount I was at work. It was a very calculated move but also a leap of faith and every year – it is another leap of faith, every day to bring in clients and continue to pay our bills. I am completely grateful for everyone who has decided for us to be their family photographers… we are continually rethinking our business and still learning and growing. Thank you all for being part of this journey with us!!
And if you need inspiration on where to begin… you can find it here. These are some of my first Senior, Wedding and Newborn photos (circa 2010-2012) beside some of my latest… <3

Everyone starts somewhere and my journey of ‘jumping’ all in began five years ago today. I had no idea where it would take me however, I don’t know where tomorrow leads either. I just show up today with what I have, what I know and where I am. I stay humble, knowing I have TONS more to learn and soak in from others around me. I will always be learning and growing… and on this adventure I call life. xoxo
